10 Weeks

(Hi Guys, I wrote these posts before we announced the pregnancy.  I want to remember these weeks in the future, so I’m posting them late.  This one would have been posted September 9.)

IMG_0366How far along? 10 weeks! I’m finally into double digits! I told my sister yesterday and she said “Wow! It’s going by so fast”  Not for me, it isn’t!  My goodness, every week takes so long waiting for baby.

Total weight gain: 6.5 pounds.  I have no idea if that is good or bad.  I first weighed myself at 4 weeks.  So that is around a pound a week.  It seems everyone in the first trimester is different.  I think it has a lot of do with how nauseous you are and I am mostly just STARVING all morning.

Baby is the size of: Date!  Seeing that make me really want sticky toffee pudding.

Maternity clothes? No, I don’t have any.  But I’ve been living in stretchy pants and pyjamas.  I think I’m going to need a few more warm pairs to help me through the winter.

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: We’ve been in bed around 9 every night, though Shane sometimes gives me grief about it.  Up at 6:30, so LOTS of sleep. Usually up once or twice.  Still starving.

Best moment this week: The ultrasound! We got to see our little bean kicking, punching and jumping around.  It felt a lot more real, that our baby is really alive.  Obviously I can’t feel her/him yet, so seeing her/him was amazing.  The baby’s heart rate was 168bpm!

Miss Anything? Drinking more black tea.  It’s cold here and the only uncaffeinated teas we have are super summer-y.  I wish I could just drink black tea all day long, it’s all I want.

Food cravings:  Protein, and all of it.

Movement: Oh my, not yet.  Won’t that be a trip?

Anything making you queasy or sick: My stomach seems to be really small right now.  It doesn’t take much for me to be overly full.  Fruit and veggies still don’t appeal, though I have been making an effort to consume more.

Symptoms: Fatigue, Hunger & Thirst.  I’m drinking sooo much water.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy with a little moody thrown in.

Looking forward to: Finding out if this little one is a he or a she.  I’m making plans in my head for the eventuality I will be delivering in the Valley.  I’m trying to focus on all the awesome part of that and not panicking that Shane might miss the birth.  Picking a doula was a major plus, as will seeing all my family and friends for this momentous occasion.
