(Hi everyone, I wrote these posts before we announced the pregnancy. I want to remember these weeks in the future, so I’m posting them late. This one would have been posted August 19)
How far along? 7 weeks!
Total weight gain: 2lbs? How could I not? I’ve been surviving on carbs and salt. It’s terrible actually. I really want to eat veggies. I always envisioned myself as a super clean eating pregnant lady, but nooooo way. Since week 6 started I feel nauseous at the idea of pretty much everything.
Maternity clothes? Not technically, but I bought a pair of maternity leggings a few weeks ago. I’m actually quite worried about how I’m going to get clothes when I need them. I’ve never worn pregnancy clothes, I don’t want to just order from a website! It’s like I’m missing out on part of the fun. Also, I had to buy a bigger bra, mine just weren’t fitting any more. (Wahh!)
Stretch marks? I’ve been applying Palmers Cocoa Butter for stretch marks. I realize I’m either going to get them or not, but maybe this way they’ll be lighter in colour? I’m hoping.
Sleep: I’ve been waking up once a night to pee, usually around 5-6 in the morning. I have noticed I’ve been far less energetic lately. I spend a good chunk of each day lying on the couch, often due to nausea, but sometimes because I’m just worn out.
Best moment this week: Watching Shane look after everything for me. I’ve been so limited in energy or movement because of this constant sick feeling that he’s taken the reins for all moving related decisions. Not the packing part of course, but he’s working his full time schedule and juggling me and this whole move. I appreciate not working every. single. day. that I spend lying on the couch trying not to vomit. He’s helped me so much.
Miss Anything? Yes, not feeling nausea for most of the day. There is a few hours in the evening, usually from 6pm onwards that I feel really good. (It’s a lie! I wrote this at 5, and ate dinner at 6 and now feel like vomit. So there)
Food cravings: Hummus and crackers! I’ve been feasting on carbs but really needing protein. Hummus is so good right now, I have a hard time stopping! Also, sandwiches with sliced meats and cheeses. So good! Greek yogurt is sitting quite well and sleeves of saltines are my saving grace for breakfast. I’m really craving a burger though, I think we’re getting some one Wednesday. Pickles!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Everything else. Honestly, I can’t imagine eating most of the time, but I still do it, because it helps. I made Shane nasi the other day for dinner, since he was craving it and I was feeling okay later in the evening. I ate some that night but ever since, if I even catch a whiff, or think about heating some up, I gag. It’s revolting.
Symptoms: Almost constant nausea, lethargy, enlarged boobs, super smelling powers!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, tired.
Looking forward to: Watching TV on the couch every night. Things are about to get crazy here with the move and everything, and I’ll be sleeping on an air mattress for 8 nights, so I’m dreading the discomfort already. I’ve got a short camping trip planned with my sister and a 30 hour drive to contend with too, so I’m just praying that I feel okay.
