How far along? 18 weeks! This week just flew by.
Total weight gain: 14 lbs total, 3 this week alone! I don’t know how this is possible, I’ve been eating healthy (with a few halloween candies) and moving was exhausting. It seems weird that I’ve gained that much this week.
Baby is the size of: A sweet potato, a bell pepper, take your pick. She’s 5.5 inches long and upwards of 7oz! I honestly don’t know how she could fit in my belly at that size.
Gender Guess: Girl, but I wouldn’t be upset if it’s a boy. Did your technician tell you the gender at your ultrasound? I’m being told it’s not allowed, but I’m dying to know.
Maternity clothes? My coat adapter came this week. Did I tell you thats what I decided? It’s a coat extender essentially. I can use any coat with a zipper, it’s got a fleece lining inside and is wind and rainproof. It cost $110 with shipping and taxes, but I figured because it’s so versatile it’s worth it. I can change my coat next year or the year after and still use it for subsequent pregnancies. The only thing I might need is a zipper adapter, but they’re like $5. It’s a good thing it came already too, because it was -10 last night!
Stretch marks? Not as far as I can tell.
Sleep: I’m waking up once a night to pee and sometimes for a snack. A bowl of fibre cereal seems to do the trick.
Best moment this week: Hearing baby’s heartbeat at a healthy 145bmp. Also, being done the move. Thank goodness.
Miss Anything? A glass of wine in the bath would have been nice the past few nights.
Food cravings: Meat. Sandwich meat in particular. Also, cereal.
Movement: Maybe? I was sitting at Tim Hortons yesterday with a very full bladder and I felt some unexplained movement around the baby area. It wasn’t anything definitive like a kick or a jab, just…movement. I’ve been paying attention, but nothings really stuck out. Fingers crossed for this week!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope.
Symptoms: I’m doing really well actually. Moving was totally exhausting. I was incredibly tired at the end of every day, but I feel like that is to be expected. My feet can’t support my extra weight, I was hobbling around every evening, they were just so sore! I even wake up in the morning with sore heels. My feet must be swollen because my shoes aren’t quite fitting. But all of that is okay to deal with. Two or three mornings I felt sick in the mornings, but again, nothing I can’t handle.
Looking forward to: Painting baby’s room! It won’t happen this week, but we can start planning for it.
Items Purchased: We didn’t buy anything this week, we were far too busy. But the diaper came! They’re so cute! Shane just kept saying “I can’t believe we’re going to have something little enough to fit into these!!”
Hormone-Induced Titty Tantrums: I’ve been emotional this week, but no tantrums. I did have a meltdown when my doctor told us that she has to be the one to tell us the sex of the baby. That’s only an issue because of the time frame we are dealing with. The soonest ultrasound I could get was November 14th and when I booked the plane tickets for the 19th I didn’t think this would be an issue. So we have the scan done Friday, nothing happens on the weekend, Monday or Tuesday the radiologist (In Fort St John) looks it over and then sends it to my doctor. She said it normally take 5 business days and I’ve only got 2! We have an appointment with her on the 18th. I reallllllly wanted to tell everyone the gender in person because I get to share so little of this pregnancy in person with my family and friends. It would be very special. Maybe the ultrasound tech will be awesome and give us a hint. Fingers crossed.
Workouts: I think moving totally counts. I didn’t get out for any walks, but those boxes were heavy and there were a lot of them!
Number of Weird Dreams: None that I can really remember.
