19 Weeks!

IMG_8664A note.  This is the scariest photo I’ve ever shown on the internet intentionally.  My back fat is now officially out there.  Also, I always try to hide my tinea versicolor from pictures, but in this pregnancy its gotten so out of control it’s just about everywhere on my torso now.  It’s growing farther and farther down my belly and while I’d prefer not to show it, my options are stop taking pictures, or live with it.  So I’m just saying, those aren’t stretch marks on my stomach, they’re my discoloured skin (it’s brown from the front and shiny from the side.)  I asked my doctor if she could give me a cream (they do have anti-fungal creams for this) and she gave me an unsympathetic “no, and it might never go back after pregnancy.”  So that is wonderful, my entire chest, underarms and belly might be patchy and brown forevermore.  Boy do I feel like a sexy mama.  Honestly, this better be a girl, or the prettiest boy I’ve ever seen for how ugly it’s made me.

How far along? 19 weeks!

Total weight gain: I’m down a pound and a half from last week.  I guess I was having a fat day.  Also, my scale might be a little broken.  When I first stepped on it today it said I was 5 pounds heavier than last week.  So I stepped off and back on and it lowered my number.  Who knows?  13 pounds total.

Baby is the size of: A mango or a little zucchini.  He/she is 6 inches long and a half a pound already!  Grow baby grow!

Gender Guess: Girl, but it really doesn’t matter!

Maternity clothes? Oh my gosh, as you can tell my shirts aren’t really long enough anymore.  This white sweater is one of my longer ones and you can still see my pants.  I’ve been using the hair elastic trick on my favourite pre-pregnancy jeans because just one pair of maternity jeans isn’t cutting it.  Also, both my pairs of yoga pants are done for so I’m down to very few options.  When I’m in the Valley I plan to do some serious shopping.  11 days!!

Stretch marks? Not that I can tell.

Sleep: Okay.  Not great.  I wake up a lot because I’m uncomfortable.  Also, I have a bowl of cereal almost every night between 3-5 because I’m so hungry!  This morning I was eating my cereal on the couch and I saw a deer in our front yard nosing around in the snow for grass.  It was -12 and snowing so obviously it was a fuzzy deer, but it didn’t seem to mind me.

Best moment this week: Feeling baby kick.  I was lying in bed on Wednesday early in the morning with my hand on my belly.  I wasn’t expecting anything when all of the sudden I got a swift and firm kick.  I could feel it from the inside and under my hand.  I was shocked!  Since then I’ve felt her kick up to 10 times a day and I can feel her softer punches too.  It is so sweet to be reminded that she’s here and alive.  I most often feel her when I’m sitting up, like on the computer, or when I’m laying almost flat on my back.  It’s magical.

Miss Anything? My family, I can’t wait to see them.

Food cravings: Nothing really.  Chocolate, but that’s normal for me.

Movement: Lots!

Anything making you queasy or sick: My doula emailed to ask how my morning sickness was going and I told her I was feeling much better.  Karma was like “oh no you didn’t!” and I was soo sick the next three mornings.  Today was better though.  Tea is still no good (and coffee hasn’t been since the beginning), rice grosses me out.  Really the only things I want to eat are carbs.  Oh joy.

Symptoms: Some morning sickness, sore feet and back by evening, that’s about it.

Looking forward to: I can NOT wait to see this little one jumping around on the screen.  We have our twenty week ultrasound on Friday and it’s going to be incredible.  Praying we can find out the sex.  I’ve been studying ultrasound pictures online to learn what I’m looking at in the nether regions, so hopefully I can know what I’m looking at when we see it.

Items Purchased: Nothing this week, but my family did!  They bought quite a few onesies and sent me videos of them.  It was awesome!

Hormone-Induced Titty Tantrums: None really.

Workouts: I’ve been busy at home and it’s been really cold here (like -10 in the day time), so I’ve only been on one walk.  There is about a foot of snow on the ground, which means snowboots for sure, but mine don’t fit and they cut off the circulation in my toes because they are too tight, which makes going for a walk really uncomfortable.

Number of Weird Dreams: Nothing too crazy this week.IMG_8676
