23 Weeks

IMG_9362We were having serious camera issues today, as you can see by the pictures.  This camera has an expiry date, and I can’t wait to see it go.  There is a brown box sitting beside me right now that has my Christmas present inside.  I know what it is, and it would have made taking these pictures much easier, but I want to open something on Christmas, so I’ll have to wait.  Meanwhile, I’ll try not to chuck this camera out the window.  Also, this is a picture of Hazel with her Jellyphant.

How far along? 23 weeks, already and only.  I’ll be relived to get to 24 weeks, when I’ve read she’ll be “viable”, though I’m afraid she wouldn’t be if something happened here.  We’re just too far away from real help.

Total weight gain: I don’t know.  My damn scale is still broken.  I was weighed at the doctors on Tuesday and I was up 3lbs from my prior checkup 4 weeks ago.  So I’m going to go with 15lbs total.

Baby is the size of: A large mango.  But I’ve never seen a mango larger than a banana, what’s up with that?

Gender: It’s a girl!

Maternity clothes? Yes, and nothing else. Except pajamas.

Stretch marks? I don’t think any new ones.

Sleep: Some nights are better than others.  Last night I slept for 10 hours!!  Some nights are really broken, with multiple trips to the bathroom and kitchen.

Best moment this week: Buying a stroller and car seat for her!  My mother-in-law kindly paid for the set I wanted.  It’s a huge relief to have that done and the expense taken care of!

Miss Anything? I never liked my old belly button (what a weird thing to say), but I miss it now.  This new thing growing is something else all together, I think it’ll end up as an outie, or at least flush with my belly.

Food cravings: Chocolate and pizza.  I had both yesterday and am satisfied once again.

Movement: She’s started kicking my bladder and backside.  It’s the weirdest feeling and not always welcome.  When I wake up in the mornings she is so kicky!  The kicks are getting stronger and stronger too.  She’ll kick up high and punch down low at the same time.  It’s a wonderful and weird sensation.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I got a tea in my advent calendar that smelled like cough syrup and got very queasy from the smell.  In the mornings after breakfast I need to lie down so my stomach doesn’t hurl.  I’m so nauseous in the mornings.

Symptoms: Extreme fatigue.  The type of exhaustion I read about people experiencing in the first trimester.  I can be doing something and then falling asleep within a minute.  I can hardly do anything some days, without feeling like I can’t move for the effort of it.  My skin is getting itchier and itchier, no matter how much I lotion.  I’m at a loss here.  Also, the other morning I washed the floors with a mop and my back was so sore all day and night.  It’s painful just to recall.

Looking forward to: Christmas!  I’m thinking just to skip right over my birthday.  Thank god Shane is going to be home that day, because I’m feeling pretty sad and lonely here.  Not in general, it’s just that I always spend my birthday with family.  I am enjoying all the Christmas preparations though.  And I am looking forward to baking a cake.

Items Purchased: Stroller and car seat.  I also received a very sweet onesie for Hazel in my advent calendar.

Workouts: I thought about taking a walk…but I didn’t.  But I did do quite a bit of vigorous housework and have been busy in my days.

Number of Weird Dreams: A few, waking up all those times in a night isn’t helping. IMG_9427

Oh Mammacita, you are looking so happy in these pictures. I love Hazel’s Jellyphant. I can’t believe how long your hair is either! Looks good on you.
Glad you love the stroller and car seat.
    Sending love to you all.
