38 Weeks

IMG_2260(1)Aren’t you so excited to see my first bathroom selfie??  We made it 38 weeks without one, but here we are.  Mom is painting a dresser in the living room in front of the mirror I use for pictures and no amount of smiling was going to make up for the mess.  Hahaha!  To make it even better I’m wearing my pajama bottoms!  Pure class until the end.

How far along? 38 weeks.  Next week I can type 39 and I’ll hopefully never type 40.

Total weight gain: I forgot to weigh myself today.  It didn’t even cross my mind until I saw this prompt.
Baby Size:19 inches – ish and about 6.5lbs.  The midwife this week said she thought she was a smaller baby, which I was happy to hear.  But just looking at my belly I think you can tell she won’t be huge.  And for that I am grateful.

Gender: We’ve got a baby girl cooking.
Stretch marks? Holy crap-oly.  What a mess.
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping like a dog this week.  Which means, all the time.  I’ve even napped!  Somehow 9+ hours a night just isn’t enough.  As much as I miss Shane I’m so thankful to have the bed to myself.  I’m just so dang comfortable.
Best moment this week: Technically the baby shower, but now I’ve used that two weeks in a row.  Washing baby clothes and getting my hospital bag packed up has been pretty awesome.  Mainly I’ve just been enjoying this last week by myself going to the movies, coffee dates, shopping and generally chilling out.
Miss Anything? Feeling comfortable.  Everything hurt, a lot.  But I’m not complaining, I swear! (Okay, maybe just a teensy tiny bit) Things are good and I realize how lucky I am that nothing has gone wrong and that my complaint is general discomfort not actual pain like so many women.  I’m very very lucky.
Food cravings: Red meat!  I think we all know that means my iron is a little low.Movement: Does she ever stop moving?  I can feel everything now.  My belly is hardly big enough for her and every day it seems her movements are stronger.  While at dinner the other night she actually made me gasp from a kick that stuck out so far and held for a second that it caused me pain.Anything making you queasy or sick: I have been sick almost every morning this week.  Ugh.

Symptoms: The reg: nausea, exhaustion, a lot of braxton-hicks and general discomfort.  Sometimes I have a lot of pelvic pressure or a lower back ache from supporting the weight, but nothing more than usual.

Looking forward to: SEEING SHANE THIS WEEK! He is finally coming out this week and should be here by Tuesday evening!!  I am so darn excited.  It’s going to be a very busy week.  Maybe even busy enough to make a baby pop out??

Items Purchased: After the baby shower I knew exactly what I needed yet, so I bought everything off Amazon.  I got reusable breast pads, a wipe warmer, diaper lotion potion, baby nail clippers, an ergo infant insert and a breast feeding cover.  Natasha also bought Hazel moccasins for her baby shower gift, so I order those.  I can’t wait to see them!!

Workouts:  I’ve done a whole bunch of walking this week.  Gotta keep up my stamina (what very little I have left).

Seems like you are making up for the previous 8 months of slow time with all this gallivanting! Holy moly no wonder you sleep well. It’s so wonderful to see you, even if only for a short time, and share a bit of this big event. We look forward to seeing Shane next week, and hopefully baby Hazel as well., Enjoy!
