10 Weeks – #2

How far along? Today I am 10 weeks, finally in double digits!  Getting here seemed to take unbelievably long.  In fact, I’ve been so worried about losing this baby that this is the first time I’ve written about it.  And unlike the first and second times, I’ve only taken 2 pictures so far.  Fortunately, I still feel pregnant, and I’m starting to get more confident this might actually work out.

Total weight gain? 1.5lbs.  I swear it feels like a lot more. I definitely look pregnant.   I am so hungry all the time!

Baby is the size of… a strawberry.  It’s hard to believe this tiny 1.5 inch baby is making such a big difference in the way I look.

Maternity clothes? You bet, I brought them out yesterday and I am about 200% more comfortable.  I’m wearing a hybrid wardrobe of whatever fits now.

Sleep is not so hot.  We were camping for 2.5 weeks and Hazel is getting BIG, she took up too much of our bed.  She’s back in her room now, but she wakes up a lot crying for me.  Add to that extra pee trips at night, waking up so hungry I can’t fall asleep and some random 3:30 wake-ups where I’m wide awake and you’ll have a good picture of where I’m at.

Best moment of the week: thinking we heard the heartbeat on the doppler we are borrowing.  It’s very hard to find, but I’m pretty sure we did.  I also popped into the doctor’s office yesterday and she took a quick listen and found it.  It’s part of why I’m feeling so much better about things.

Miss anything? Almost every day we were camping I would have loved a nice cold beer.  But I’m not one to deny myself almost anything while pregnant, so food wise I don’t miss anything.

Food Cravings: Not really.  Yogurt has been a favourite for how easy it is on my stomach, and that it’s cold.  I’ve been very thirsty for weeks now, so water is constant.

Anything making you sick or queasy? Oh yes, lots of things.  I can barely stomach coffee, though in the afternoon sometimes it sounds good.  I’ve been drinking 1 or 2 cups of black tea a day.  The aversions are always changing, so it really depends on the moment.

Symptoms: I’m tired, starving, nauseous, thirsty and have noticed a definite slow down in my digestion.  I also get winded really easily.

Looking forward to: We’ve got an ultrasound appointment for September 15, on which I’ll be 12 weeks.  It’s only 3 weeks away, but getting out of the first trimester seems like an impossibility.
