Quebec City

I was lucky enough to go on my first ever solo vacation last month, with a quick trip to Quebec City.  I decided on Quebec because 1: the Canadian dollar is weeeeeak, so any exchange was really going to hurt which ruled out anywhere, especially the USA and 2: I only had 5 days to work with, so it needed to be close-ish but still feel adventurous.  I gotta say, I was very happy with my choice!

Two of my days were definitely travel days, but the other three were so low key, relaxing and fun!  I stayed in an awesome tiny hotel from 1876, which was so neat!  It was right across from city hall and felt like the center of everything.  I highly recommend it.  I slept when I wanted, (though oddly, I kept my BC schedule since I went to sleep around 12 and woke up at 7, which is pretty much the same as my 9:30 pm – 5:30 am wake up at home) ate when I wanted and did whatever I felt like!  Which was a lot of walking, window shopping and relaxing.  I did a food tour, a ghost tour (which was very windy and cold), took the ferry to Levis and spent an afternoon at the spa.  Guys, it was so good.  The downside?  I missed Hazel like crazy.  I cried every day, which is so lame.  Basically, if I heard her crying for me on the phone I broke down.  Whomp whomp.

I’m so glad I went.  It was a fantastic experience. I’m feeling satiated for travel again which is good news because I’ll be strapped down for the next few years!

So many experiences to be had there, and the people are wonderful! We stayed in the same hotel you did, and it was the best. Quebec City is our favorite place. Reminds me of the old European walled cities, Canada’s only one. Glad you enjoyed it.
